Luxury Arts & Crafts Home

Location: Shirley Hills

Property Type: 6 Bedroom Detached Period House

Type of work: Refurbishment & Project Management

Although a good example of an ‘Arts and Crafts’ property, the layout of some of the rooms meant they were not suited to modern living.

The client wanted a more traditional style for the original lounge and dining room and a more modern and relaxed feel in the new kitchen and family areas.

The schemes were designed to complement each other from room to room, so that with all doors open, the colours flow through and a sense of space is achieved.

Due to the number of windows in the kitchen and family room, all the blinds and curtain poles were motorised so that at a touch of a button, or via a timer the curtains open and close smoothly and quietly.

Bespoke, handmade lights in the lounge dining room and stairwell added a unique style to each area. All the curtains were handmade and interlined to give the best quality and finish to the drape.

For the bedrooms the requirement was to be fresh and bright in order to create a happy environment with a sense of peace and tranquillity. Details such as a bespoke curved window seat and complementary headboard, stool and cushions show how a scheme can work together to create balance.
